Amy graduated from Columbus High School (Waterloo, Iowa) in 1984 and attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she met her husband, Vince Howard. Amy and Vince married in August, 1986, at Sacred Heart Church in Waterloo. Amy later earned a double major in elementary education/early childhood education and completed the master's program in elementary education at UNI.
Vince and Amy moved to Baraboo, Wisconsin, in 1997 where they were raising 4 children. They were involved in many community organizations, especially Walnut Hill Bible Church, where Amy served as a Sunday school teacher. She also was a substitute teacher in the Baraboo School District, a member of the Baraboo Music Support Group, and a member of the South School Parents Support Group.
In February 2006, Amy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Treatment began as a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. Nine months after her diagnosis, Amy passed away. In addition to her husband and parents, Amy was survived by her 4 children (ages 16 - 14 - 9 - and 5); 4 siblings; and her maternal grandmother, Mildred Howe of Waterloo.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at the Walnut Hill Bible Church with Pastor David Hutchens officiating. Internment followed in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
