Bloomington – Ronald C. “Ron” Sutton, 80, of Bloomington, formerly of Heyworth and Downs, passed away at 6:08 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019 at his home.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Fr. Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and one hour prior to mass at the church. Casual dress is encouraged.

Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Downs. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Illinois Special Olympics.

Ron was born on February 26, 1939 in Minonk, Illinois, a son of Charles Francis and Senna Blanche Kelly Sutton. He married Wilma “Kay” Lush on February 16, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey (Leanne) Sutton of Heyworth and Timothy (Staci) Sutton of Bloomington; grandchildren, Michael (Jessi) Sutton, Brady Sutton and Nathan Sutton, all of Bloomington and Matthew Sutton and Loghan Sutton, both of Heyworth; three great grandchildren; brother, Wendell Sutton and sister, Cindy Sutton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron was a life long farmer, in the Heyworth and Downs area. He proudly served in the Illinois National Guard.

He served as the Downs Road Commissioner and was a former board member of the Randolph Co-op Grain Elevator. He was a member of the Bishop Edward W. O'Rourke Knights of Columbus Council #10967 and St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Bloomington.

Ron was treasured by his family and enjoyed by his friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew him.
