Funeral services for Travis “Bo” Davis will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Tabernacle Church in Dew. Pastor Jimmy Davis will officiate and Chuck Lopez and Jacob Davis will speak. Interment will follow the services at Dew Cemetery and will be conducted by Pastor Lloyd Lane with honors provided by the U. S. Army.
Visitation will be held on Thursday with the family present from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Grace Tabernacle Church.
Mr. Davis passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
He was born at home in the rural Freestone County community of Concord, near Buffalo, to Milton and Marie Davis on June 9, 1935. He attended school in Buffalo and excelled in sports, especially football. Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1958 to 1961. After his service, he married Peggy on June 7, 1963, and shared over fifty-five years of marriage together. Mr. Davis worked for Texas Utilities for over twenty years until his retirement in 1994. He lived in Cayuga for most of those years where his love of sports lead him to be the “Voice of the Wildcats” for numerous seasons. He also volunteered time to coach his children in various little league sports. He moved back to Buffalo in 1990 and served as Pastor of Grace Tabernacle Church in Dew for nineteen years until his retirement. His Lord and his Church were his most important loves of his life. He also enjoyed quail hunting, playing dominoes and he loved people, especially his large family.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Davis; one son, Jimmy Davis & wife Carrie; one daughter, Tammy Lopez & husband Chuck; four grandchildren, Josh Davis & wife Kaitlyn, Chelsea Curry & husband Hunter, Melissa Yeager & husband Will, and Jacob Davis; one great-grandchild, Charlie Curry; one brother, Billy Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by one son, David Mitchell Davis; and his parents, Milton & Marie Davis.
