He was the son of the late Lonnie and Della Davenport Phillips and was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Stone and Myrtle Phillips.
Ron was an avid tennis player, a music lover, a guitar player and an amateur novelist. He was a Vietnam veteran and most currently worked as a postal worker. Ron loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jana Phillips; children, Jason (Emily) Phillips of Statesboro, Alison (Dave) Williams of Athens, and Brian Phillips of Dalton; grandchildren, Gavin, Rae and Caitlyn Phillips and Vanessa, Gibson and Lorelei Williams; brother, Lonnie Phillips Jr. (Pam) of Dalton; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 7:30 at Love Funeral Home.
