Mother Ola Mae Walker was born in Butler, Taylor County, Georgia to the late Mrs. Willie Hue Hicks Worthy and the late Mr. Albert Worthy on June 25, 1932. She was educated in the public school System of Taylor County.

Her family moved to Upson County for better job opportunities. At the tender age of 16 she met Mr. Warren George Walker. She was joined in marriage on March 29, 1948. To this union six children were born. They shared forty-six years of marriage before his death on March 20, 1994. To help support her family she was employed by Thomaston Mills, Peerless Mills and lastly Martha Mills where she worked over thirty-eight years. She provided housekeeping services to the Chatfield and Coggins families. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many.

She joined Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church after moving to Upson County. She was a faithful member and passionate about her church. She was devoted to Sunday School, Church Worship, Bible Study and to her pastor. She served on the Mother Ministry, President of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry, a member of the Social Guild and a former member of the choir. She train her children in the church and set an example for them.

Mother Walker served as the Lady Attendant for Trice Funeral Home for over 35 years. She was faithful and dedicated to assisting families in the time of bereavement. She was a former member of the Rainbow Club, help organize the Annual Thanksgiving Meals and was an annual contributor. During her leisure time she enjoyed shopping, watching Braves baseball, cooking, and traveling. She enjoyed serving the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Walker, Sr.; two children, Warren Walker, Jr. and Robert Lee Walker; one sister, Dorothy Price and two brothers, Jessie Worthy and Wilbert Worthy.

On Monday, January 14, 2019 the final chapter of her life came to a close. She quietly and peacefully went home to be with the Lord. She will be greatly missed by her family, her church family and many friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Mr. Andrew Walker of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Cassidy Waden of Cleveland, OH, Ms. Vivian Walker of Fairburn, GA and Mr. Walter Walker of Thomaston, GA. One granddaughter she raised as her own, Mrs. Ashley (Rickey) Shannon. Seven other grandchildren, Mr. Maurice (Tanita) McDowell, Mr. Veron (Monica) Walker, Ms. Rosha Walker, Ms. Roseland Walker, Mr. Desmond Waden, Ms. Kristin Starling and Ms. Rashonda Hickman. Thirteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; one brother Mr. Willie C. (Ceola) Starling of Decatur, GA. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, life-long friends, and her family at Trice Funeral Home all who will miss her dearly.
