Thomas Sherman Fridell served in the Spanish American War (21 Apr 1898 – 13 Aug 1898), and when he returned to the states, he lived in Memphis, Shelby Co., TN. In the 1900 Memphis city directory, he and his father, Isaac Wesley Fridell boarded at 8 McLemore Ave., and they both worked for Memphis Coffin Co.

In the 1901 Memphis city directory, Isaac, and his children, (George) Bert, Sherman and Flora lived at 9 McLemore Ave. Isaac was a coffin maker and Bert and Sherman were woodworkers at Memphis Coffin Co.

In the 1903 Memphis city directory, George B. (Bert) Fridell was a machinist, and he lived at 1202 Rayburn Ave. His brother, Sherman Fridell was a barkeeper and lived at 1207 McLemore Ave.

It is my understanding that Sherman was killed while trying to break up a brawl in a bar fight where he was employed.
