William Acht was the son of Hugo Acht and wife Mary. Hugo was a career military musician stationed at Fort Sheridan probably until 1907 when his land was deeded and he moved to California with his wife and two daughters. He is listed at Fort Sheridan in the 1900 census. In the 1910 census (CA) he and his wife were listed as having had 3 children, 2 living at that time, and both other children were born in IL. The Acht's other two children were Mary Jr. and Amelia. Hugo's military career is well documented on Ancestry, and his Ft. Sheridan property deed info. can be pulled up on google.
