Jean is survived by her husband, John Marostica, and her brother, Harry K. Harr and his wife, Jean Ann. Her death was sudden and unexpected. Her doctors had an aggressive plan to fight her cancer and believed it was curable.
She worked in the Tuberculosis Elimination Division of the Department of State Health Services for more than 25 years, then earning her bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from South West Texas State University now Texas State University. She was a computer programmer for several years following her graduation.
Jean loved being a volunteer and loved genealogy. She was an active member and leader of the Austin Genealogy Society, the Williamson County Genealogical Society, AustinGenSig and other groups. She was very proud to be a member the Austin Colony Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Jean loved helping people solve problems, in both genealogy and websites, and wherever else she was needed. She had a kind heart and loved helping however she could.
Jean’s memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. this Thursday, April 11, at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar in Austin.
