Obituary Excerpt: "He was Doctor of Medicine, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London and Edinburgh, Fellow of the Royal Linnean and Geological Societies, and other learned bodies. He was also Inspector of H.M.'s Fleets and Hospitals, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Knight of the Royal Guelphic Order of Honour, and Knight-Commander of the Order of the Cross of Christ of Portugal."
