Loyd Strickland, 83, of Waycross died Thursday night (June 7, 2007) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Ware County to the late Dock and Nettie Dowling Strickland and lived here most of his life. Mr. Strickland was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in WWII and was retired from the Ware County School System as a Bus Driver. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Strickland, one brother, I.J. Strickland, one sister, Myrtle Colby.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Griffin Strickland, Waycross, three daughters, Patricia Ammons (Wayne), Waycross, Linda Albritton (Marshall) Waycross, Mary Norman, Waycross, five sons, William Matthew Strickland (Linda), Waycross, Daniel L. Strickland, Waycross, James D. Strickland, Waycross, Alan P. Strickland (Diane), Waycross, Edward E. Strickland, Waycross, one brother, Levy Strickland, Waycross, one sister, Adell Bjorgum, Brunswick, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
