Marion Hill, 86, Snyder passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 in the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center. He was born in a small farmhouse east of Roosevelt, Oklahoma on June 5, 1932 to Glen and Anna (Collins) Hill. He met Dixie Bussey in Snyder and they were soon married. He was drafted into the US Army and fought in Korea as a field wire and communications man. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal-2 Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. After his release from the Army in 1954, he and Dixie moved to Trona, California where he worked for 2 years in a Borax factory. He then moved back to Oklahoma City where he was employed by Dr. Pepper. In 1962 they moved their family to Indiahoma where they purchased a farm northwest of town and began a custom harvesting business. Marion loved to tell stories about his life as he grew up east of Roosevelt. One in particular was as a teen and he rode his horse, Diamond to a dance in Roosevelt. On his way home he fell asleep and later awoke to find he was in his yard 11 miles away. He would also tell of riding Diamond up the mountain to a rattlesnake den. He always said that he could shoot 3 before they retreated to their den. He would tie them to his saddle horn, and their heads would drag the ground all the way home. Marion’s family and friends will always remember him as a very kind, generous man, willing to help others when needed.

Survivors include his children, Wade and wife Cheryl Hill of Snyder, Toby and wife Terri Hill of Snyder, Sheri Hill of Snyder, grandchildren, Kristina and husband Tanner Wright of Elgin, Whitney and husband Andrew Dixon of Snyder, Chelsea Hill, Cheyanne Hill, 2 great grandsons, Braxton Dixon and Gunner Hill and his siblings, Glenda Riley of Georgia, Jerry Hill of Harrah and Leon Hill of Stroud.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Don Hill of Oklahoma City, a sister Mildred Hyde of Oklahoma City and an infant sister at birth.
