Steven Burris passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 20, 2018. He is now in the arms of his loving father, Jesus Christ.

Steve was born January 2, 1949 in Bloomington to Gene F. Burris and Clara (Mathis) Burris-Borders. He attended Edgewood High School and half way through his senior year he joined the Army. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He also received his high school diploma before he was honorably discharged. He worked different jobs throughout his life including Indiana University, RCA and drove for Yellow Cab. Steve was a minister of the Pentecostal Faith and was also a very good singer. He loved going with his brother Jim to visit different churches and seeing old friends and making new ones. He was a kind, friendly person who never met a stranger. Steve spent most of his time riding the bus to McDonalds, and the last three years going every day to Burger King. He loved joking and laughing with everyone. He got very close to the employees and they became like family and he was like family to them. Steve had many friends from all walks of life and he will truly be missed.

Steve is survived by two sons, Craig Burris (Angela) and Steven Burris, Jr.; four grandchildren, Anna, Mya, Andrew, and Christopher; two brothers, Jim Burris (Eula), Chuck Burris (Mary); three sisters, Donna Burke (Chris), Armetta Allgood, and Sherry Lewis; a sister-in-law, Sharie Burris; and twelve nieces and nephews, Chris Burke, Brandon Burke (Teresa), Chris Atkins, Robby Allgood (Cindy), Clarissa Sullivan (Dave), Robert Burris, Jr. (Jennylen), Alisha Burris (Jeramy), Michael Burris, Tracy Burris, Amanda Burris, Chrystal Hardiman (Brock), and Chuckie Burris; two aunts, Barbara Martin and Betty Mathis and twenty-two great nieces and great nephews along with many cousins.

Steve was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Burris; parents; maternal grandparents, James and Grace Mathis; paternal grandparents, Elza and Cordia Burris; brothers, Robert Burris and Mike Burris; a niece, Tammy Modlin; and two great nieces, Montana and Jean.
