GERMANTON, NC ~ Steven Thomas Lane, 62, a fun-loving, big-hearted guy, passed from the earth on Monday, April 1, 2019, after a brief fight with cancer.

Steve was the son of the late Paul and Anne Lane of Kernersville and was a graduate of East Forsyth High School and Forsyth Technical Institute and a member of Fulp Moravian Church. He spent his career as an HVAC technician at Wall Turner, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., and UNCG. He loved his family and friends, working with his hands at home and at work, but his passion from an early age was motorcycles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shelia Lane Cox.

He is survived by his sister, Saundra Bowman (Mike); his brother, Phillip Lane (Bobbie); his wife, Karen Montgomery Lane; aunts: Patricia Russell, Wilma Lane, Pat Lane, and Scottie Akard; an uncle, Bill Lane; nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins and friends that he thought the world of and enjoyed nothing more than the time he spent with them.

An 11:00 am funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Fulp Moravian Church with Rev. Chuck Harmon and Rev. Dan Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 5, 2019, from 6-8 pm at Burroughs Funeral Home.

The family extends a special thanks to Freida Lowrance and Keith Shelton who were generous with their time and attention in caring for Steve when he needed their help the most.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fulp Moravian Church, 1556 US 311, Walnut Cove, NC 27052; or the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
