Minnie June Ryan
June 20, 1927 April 2, 2019

Minnie June Ryan, 91, of Denver, CO, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

She was born in her parent's house in Elyria, CO on June 20th, 1927 and has always had a passion for Colorado and eventually made her home in Buena Vista, CO where she loved the mountains and the stream running through her backyard. The later days led her to Huddleston, VA.

Minnie “June” was involved in many civic activities. She belonged to the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) which she adored, Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, and the American Legion. She was Native American and proud of her heritage. Her sparkling personality attracted many friends, whom she cherished like family.

Everyone called her "Great", it started when she became a great grandmother. She was the matriarch of our family, full of piss and vinegar, and lived a very full life. She raised very strong and incredibly smart women who have in their own way imparted her wisdom and strengths into their respective children. The women in her family have always been forces of nature, and it stemmed from her. Whenever the question would arise inquiring about her longevity, she would always credit "good booze and good men" and remind us of her single glass of Red Rosé she habitually had with her dinner. The world is just not as great without “Great”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Ford and Minnie Anna Burch; siblings, Leo Edward Ford; Gloria Minear; Butch Ford; Charlie Ford; Mary Smith; step-sons, Rodney Ryan; Scott Ryan; and grandson, Larry Shaputis Jr.

Surviving is her husband, Lee W. Ryan of 47 years; sister, Lorraine Toney and husband, Ronnie; sister-in-laws, Erma Ford; Wanda Ford; daughters, June Shaputis and husband, Larry; Virginia Cook; Patty McDonough and husband, Jeff Schippel; Jeanette McDonough and husband, Pat Horton; step-daughters, Shannon Blossom and husband, Donnie; Rhonda Fields and husband, John; Lisa Sprinkle and husband, Mike.
