Hattie Mae Harjo, 81, Wewoka, Oklahoma resident, died Thursday, April 4, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Hattie was born January 15, 1938 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Eddie Lindsey and Lucinda (Noon) Lindsey.
Hattie attended and graduated from Old Butner High School in 1955. She was a homemaker and grandmother, who loved sewing, cooking, traveling and attending grandkids ballgames. Hattie was a member of the Little Quarsarty Church, South of Cromwell, Oklahoma, she was also a tribal member of the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma.
Hattie married Legus Harjo, Sr., on August 4, 1957 in Wewoka, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2011.
Hattie is survived by her son, Legus Harjo, Jr. and his wife McLoud, Oklahoma, four daughters; Anita Harjo, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Rita Maples and her husband Todd of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Janis Dawson and her husband Jeff of McLoud, Oklahoma and Sheila Bannon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three brothers; Fred Lindsey of Wetumka, Oklahoma, Andrew “ Andy” Lindsey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Eddie Joe Lindsey and his wife, Gretchan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Thomas Lindsey, twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren and two expected soon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Legus Harjo, one son, Darrell Harjo, a daughter Baby Girl Harjo, her brother, Thomas Lindsey and five sisters; Pauline Deere, Minnie Pool, “ T” Cletith Thrift, Lola Lindsey and “ Daisy” Josephine Camp.
Wake services will be held 6-8 P.M., Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Mrs. Harjo will be taken to the church at 4:00 P.M., Monday, April 8, 2019, for wake services there.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Little Quasarty Church, South of Cromwell, Oklahoma, with Fred Lindsey and Eddie Joe Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at the Lindsey Family Cemetery.
