Pearl Louise (Shackelford) Jones, age 92, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home.
Pearl was born on May 30, 1926 in Plainview, Texas to Elmer and Lorena (Skeens) Shackelford.
Pearl was very involved in the Order of the Eastern Star where she was not only a member, but held several offices over the years. She served as Past President of the Ohio to Iowa Order of the Eastern Star, Past President of Past Grand Representative of Iowa, and Past Deputy Grand Matron of District II of Texas. She also was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary at Childress Regional Medical Center.
Before he passed, Pearl and her husband, Joe, were both very dedicated volunteers for the American Red Cross and the Childress Meals on Wheels, as well as active members of the First United Methodist Church in Childress.
Above all else, anyone that knew her knew all of the stories she had shared about her life and the things she had done and accomplished. One of the most well known things about her, and something she was very proud of, was the building of the Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel in Childress Cemetery that she built in memory of her beloved husband.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph E. Jones, brothers Arvile Parkey and Gene Shackelford, and a sister Jo Ima Hill.
Survivors include her daughter, Venita Wickhhart and husband, Robert of Carthage, MO; sister Doris Harlan of Waxahachie, TX; sisters-in-law Betty Parkey of Windthorst and Lajuana Thaten of Childress; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Childress Meals on Wheels or to CRMC Hospice.
