Jack W. Hastings was the was the son of George H. and Olive Armstrong Hastings. He married Mary Rickner May 18, 1946.

He served in the Army from 1940 to 1945 in World War II, serving with the Second Ranger Infantry Battalion. He was awarded the Purple Heart, a Silver Star, and three Bronze Stars with an European Theatre Ribbon.

Mr.Hastings was a member of the American Legion Post 211, the D.A.V. and the Moose Lodge, Portland, Indiana. He retired in 1980 from Sheller-Globe Corp.

He was survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, five grandchildren, a brother, a sister and a brother.
