James (Jimmy) Eugene Akers, age 77, of Fries, Virginia, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.
Mr. Akers was born in Grayson County, Virginia, on May 10, 1941, to James Paris and Donna Mae Williams Akers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Derek Akers, and a sister, Shirley Akers Shupe.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Patton Akers; daughters and sons-in-law: Gina and Steve Burris, Mitzi and Randy Shinault, all of Fries, Virginia; grandchildren and spouse: Kala Burris, Shane and Hannah Burris, Kendra Shinault, Taylor Shinault, Erin Shinault; great-grandson, Adolin Burris; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Gloria Akers of Fries, Virginia; brother-in-law, Harris Shupe of Fries, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Howard Meadows.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.
