Joseph Carl “Jay” Desormeaux, Sr. passed away at his residence in Anahuac on Friday, March 22, 2019. He was born on May 6, 1928 in Erath, La., to parents Sidney Desormeaux, Sr., and Melina LeLeux. Jay was a longtime resident of Anahuac. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, as Deep-sea Diver/ASR. He ran two successful businesses: Jay & Sid Garage and S&J House Movers, both in Anahuac. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed Nascar racing and Cajun music.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Sidney Desormeaux, Sr., and Melina LeLeux; stepmother Ernestine Meaux Desormeaux; three brothers Sidney Desormeaux, Jr., Dalton F. Desormeaux and Charles Desormeaux; two sisters Josephine Bertrand; an infant sister; and a grandson Jarrod Desormeaux.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Desormeaux, of Anahuac; his children Joseph C. Desormeaux, Jr., and wife Carla, of Anahuac; Maria Desormeaux Bourg, of Vidor; Yvonne Desormeaux, of Concord, NC; Annette Bergeron and husband, Richard, of Anahuac and Paul Desormeaux, of Anahuac; one brother, Floyd Desormeaux, of New Orleans, La., two sisters Nola Migues, of Delcambre, La., and Lou Ann Haught of Vidor; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at First United Methodist Church, in Anahuac, Texas from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow. He will be deeply missed by all.
