Pastor Pearlie Lee Holmes was born October 26, 1954, in Natchez, Mississippi to Katie Lucille and Lampkin Holmes, Sr. Pastor Holmes spent his childhood in Natchez until his family moved to Houston, Texas in 1968. Pastor Holmes retired from the Deer Park Independent School District at May 2016.
Pastor Holmes received the call to ministry while worshipping under the leadership of the late Pastor Joe Nelson, Evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ. Pastor Holmes mentored by Pastor Nelson experienced foundational, spiritual and administrative tutelage which guided him throughout his service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During Pastor Holmes years of dedication to our Lord he served in many capacities from Sunday School Teacher, YPWW Leader, Pastor and Superintendent. 
Pastor Holmes was Pastor to two churches, Campbell Memorial Church of God in Christ at Trinity, Texas, and Compton Chapel Church of God in Christ at Beaumont, Texas and founded and pastored two churches, Redeeming Faith Church of God in Christ at LaPorte, Texas and finally City of Refuge Community Center Church of God in Christ at Pearland, Texas until his homegoing March 31, 2019.
Pastor Holmes is preceded in death by his grandmother Reverend Beulah Brady, parents Lampkin Holmes, Sr. and his mother Katie Lucille, Sister Yvonne Lyons (Harold), Beula Page (Gerald), and Lillian Watson (James). 
Pastor Holmes leaves to cherish his memory and honor his works for God his wife Latonia Causey Holmes, his daughters Natalie Holmes, Erica White (Chris), Ariana Shello (Terrick) and Jerricka Ross, his brothers Pastor Samuel Holmes, (Tilde) of Jacksonville Illinois, Lampkin Holmes, Jr. (Robbie), and Elder James Holmes (Gladys), of Houston Texas. Pastor Joseph Holmes (Francis) of Athens, Tennessee, Elder John Holmes (Ella) of Houston, Texas, Elder Elijah Holmes of Natchez, Mississippi, Kenneth Holmes, (Ora) of Houston, Texas, Michael Holmes (Barbara) of Evergreen, Alabama, and Minister Lorenzo Holmes (Orly) of Athens, Tennessee. Father and mother in-laws Lloyd and Bobbie Busby and brothers and sister in-laws Elder Cedric Henry, Sr. (Casander) and Eric August (Tish) Houston, Texas, and four grandchildren London, Elijah, Carter and Liam and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family and friends of Pastor Holmes morn for the homegoing of this great soldier of the Lord; but we are not like those without hope for we know that we will see him again on that great resurrection day wherein God’s children shall be caught up in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye to meet the Lord.
