WICHITA - Rachel Gonzales, 83, formerly of Hutchinson, died June 20, 2019, at her home in Wichita. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date by Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.

WICHITA - Rachel Gonzales, 83, formerly of Hutchinson, died June 20, 2019, at her home. She was born December 27, 1935, in Halstead, to Juan F. and Guadalupe (Martinez) Gonzales.

Rachel graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1953. She worked as a CNA in the maternity ward at Grace Hospital and then, with Frank Raya Jr., was co-founder/owner of Kiko’s Mexican Restaurant, which they operated for 24 years.

Rachel was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, and volunteered at the Salvation Army, Hutchinson, Ronald McDonald House, Wichita, and the Lord’s Diner, Wichita.

Surviving are: children, Cynthia Raya, Wichita, Annette Raya, Hutchinson, Anthony Raya, Wichita, Gregory Raya (Birgit), Raeford, North Carolina, Christopher Raya (Romaine Figueroa), Wichita; grandchildren, Rachel Wannamaker (Jarod), Hutchinson, Dominick Raya, Santa Monica, CA, Derrick Raya (Katie), Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Julen and Noah Wannamaker and Alexis and Asher Raya; brothers, Gilbert Gonzales (Rosa), Nickerson, Fernando Gonzales (Vanessa), Hutchinson; daughter-ofthe- heart, Ruby Slavenburg; honorary grandchildren, Juaquina Bowers and Jessica Guy; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Angie Harms; brothers, Roberto (infant), Rudolfo, Roberto, Armando, and Juan.

Parish rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2019, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S.

Maple, South Hutchinson, with Father Ned Blick officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 2-4 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Catholic Jr./Sr. High School, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
