SHINNSTON — Deborah Ann Baker, 67, of Shinnston, passed away at J.W. Ruby Memorial in Morgantown on April 3, 2019.
She was born in Clarksburg, WV, on December 20, 1951, the daughter of the late Haywood Harrison and Mildred “Sally” Evelyn (Campbell) Phillips.
Deborah graduated from Fairmont State College with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She worked as an Aide for many years at the Harrison County Board of Education. Deborah was a member of Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter 11 in Bridgeport and attended the Clarksburg Baptist Church. She loved to read and to spend time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by her sister, Doneta Rigdon and one brother, Ronald Phillips.
Those left behind to cherish Deborah’s memory include her husband of more than 20 years, Michael Baker; two daughters, Sabrina Thomas and her husband, Andy and Christina Richards and her husband, Steve; two grandsons, Jeremy Rhodes and Andrew Richards; three granddaughters, Allyson Richards, Josie Rhodes and Renee Rhodes; three stepgranddaughters, Morgan, Miriah and Morandi Thomas and one brother, Richard D. Phillips, Sr. .
The family would like to give special thanks to Deborah’s daughter and caregiver, Sabrina Thomas. She did a wonderful job taking care of Deborah for many years and gave her the love and care that only a daughter could give.
Per Deborah’s request, cremation services will take place. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
