Carol Louise Walden, 79, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in Decatur Memorial Hospital from complications of dementia. She had been a resident of Moweaqua Rehabilitation and Health Care in Moweaqua, Illinois, since August 2014, where she received respectful and compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Northwest Christian Church, 1306 N. Stanley Avenue, Decatur, Illinois 62526. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Carol was born to O.D. and Louise Fortner in 1939, in Mattoon, Illinois.
She was a graduate of Shawnee High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She married C. William “Duke” Walden in May 1963.
She is fondly remembered as the smiling face behind the jewelry counter at Kohl’s Department Store in Hickory Point Mall. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir, doting on her cats and dogs, and laughing.
She is survived by her devoted husband, C. William “Duke” Walden; son, Stephen M. Walden (Cheryl) of Lebanon; daughter, Elizabeth W. Beasley (Richard); granddaughter, Lisa M. Phillips (Ryan); great-granddaughters, Molly E. and Emma M. Phillips and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
