Willie Lee Holmes was born on Tuesday, April 9th, 1946 in Welling, OK, the son of Fogg Holmes Sr. and Hattie Holmes. He grew up with six brothers and three sisters, Joe Holmes, Mike Holmes, Charlie Holmes, Fogg Holmes Jr., Leon Holmes, Eda Scraper and Ida Scott, along with an infant sister, Patsy and infant brother that passed. He completed his primary education at Tenkiller School in 1959 and began his career mowing lawns, maintenance work, and construction throughout his community; helping all who knew him. When he was not working, he was enjoying his favorite pastime, rummy and spades with a very competitive spirit. He loved being outdoors where he could be found fishing or taking long nature walks enjoying the day. He didn’t take the littlest things for granted in his life like enjoying an early morning coffee or speaking Cherokee with his sister Eda. Later in life, his health started to fail and on March 20th, 2019 the Lord took this gentle soul to Heaven to be with his family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Holmes, father, Fogg Holmes Sr. and six brothers, Joe Holmes, Mike Holmes, Charlie Holmes, Fogg Holmes, Leon Holmes and one infant brother and one infant sister, Patsy Holmes.

He is survived by his two sisters, Ida Scott of Tulsa, OK and Eda and Junior Scraper of Welling, OK and, as well as many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones.
