A celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 in the pavilion at Highland Cemetery with Mr. Jack Hayley officiating. Services are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas.
Wayne was born February 24, 1942 in Pampa, Texas to Robert L. Hughes and Jane L. Hughes. He married Diana Ruth Ray on August 22, 1964 in Pampa, Texas. The two of them built a life in Pampa with their daughters before moving to Iowa Park in 1985. Wayne worked for Ameron in Burkburnett until his retirement in 1988. Wayne and Diana owned the Wash N Chat Laundry in Burkburnett for many years until her passing in 2012.
His parents and siblings preceded him in death.
He is survived by daughters, Michele Stokes and husband Greg Stokes of Frisco, Texas and Susan Wolfe and husband Sam Wolfe of Iowa Park. He is also survived by grandchildren Mathew Franks, Taylor Keller Powell, Gabrielle Stokes, Lily Stokes and Sam Stokes. Lastly, he is survived by two great-grandchildren, Kendal Franks and Christopher Powell.
He was a proud supporter of the Humane Society of Wichita Falls, Texas.
