Florence Pipes was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to William Obediah Pipes and Mary E (McKeone) Pipes on July 1, 1917.

After attending high school, she completed training in contometry. She met her husband David T Hughes and married in September 1939. Florence and her husband, David were involved in the music ministry at the churches they attended. They lived for a number of years in Rock Springs, New Mexico to work with the McCormick Family at the mission there. They moved back to Indiana and lived in Indianapolis while David worked for Blue and Company, Accountants. He retired, gardened and held services for the Church of God in their home in Lawrence, Indiana. It was always their intention to move to Shawnee, Oklahoma after retirement to continue to support Brother Smith and his family in the Golden Rule Home. Florence spent a number of years organizing morning devotions at the home as well as evening music and prayer. She continued even when she moved in as a resident.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, David, Sr.; son, David, Jr.; two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth Worley; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Resthaven Funeral Home with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
