Dan M. Burrola, son of Valentine and Guillerma Burrola, passed away at the age of 94 on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in Rio Rancho, NM.
Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife, Syria Burrola and son, Stanley "Rick" Valdéz.
Dan is survived by his four children, Lindell and her spouse, Pete Chávez, Lydia Adams, Glen David and his spouse, Stephanie Burrola and Denise and her spouse, Ralph Buchner. Dan was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Dan was born in Allison, NM, was raised in Gallup NM, relocated to Albuquerque, retired to Corrales, and his final residence was Rio Rancho, NM.
His love and dedication to his Church, country and family was his inspiration throughout his life.
Loving, laughing and dancing is what he loved to do.
Dan Burrola enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and was discharged from active duty in 1947.
Dan returned to Gallup, NM and met his wife of 70 years. From 1949 until 1950, he helped operate the Burrola Coal Company. From 1950 until 1951, he worked in Fort Wingate Ordinance and transferred to Kirtland Air Force Base. From 1951 until 1962 at Kirtland, he was a Security Police Officer, specializing in Classified Area Security. From 1962 until 1975, he worked in Civil Service. From 1975 until 1982, he was promoted to Civil Engineer at KAFB (DMWW). Dan received a certificate for 42 years of Civil Service.
Military Service from 1942 to 1977, Dan enlisted in the United States Navy, served in the United States Coast Guard, Air National Guard, United States Air Force assigned to Taegu, Korea, United States Army Reserves and United States Air Force Reserves, with honorable discharges from all branches.
A Rosary and Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at French – Rio Rancho Chapel, Rio Rancho, NM. Mass followed by reception will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd in Rio Rancho, NM. Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fé National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St. Santa Fé, NM.
