David W. Logan of 1906 Rorer Ave. SW Roanoke Virginia departed this life June 20, 2018 at Friendship Health Care Center. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Gretna, Virginia to the late Reverend John B. Logan and Mrs. Katie Carter Logan. He was preceded in death by six brothers; Joseph Logan, James Logan, Earnest Logan, Raymond Logan, John Jr. Logan, and Henry Logan, three sisters; Fannie Walthall, Gladys Clark, and Edith Callands.
He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Gretna, VA.
He was married to Agnes Layne and to this union a son was born. He was employed by the City of Roanoke for many years before he retired.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories a son, Darrell Logan of Roanoke, VA; a devoted sister, Corrine Clark of Gretna, VA; a dear beloved friend, cousin and caretaker, Ms. Eloise Keatts of Roanoke, VA; two sisters-in-law, Lois Logan of Worcester, MA; Beatrice Logan of Springfield, MA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks are extended to his nephew Marvin Logan, nieces Herimina Walthall Hendricks and April Clark, and cousins Ernest and Doris Haley, and James and Delois Lark. Also, special thank you to Friendship Manor 2 West, Medi Home Health and Hospice.
A funeral service will be held 1 pm Monday, June 25, 2018 at Serenity Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Friends may call at Serenity Sunday 2 pm to 6 pm for viewing.
