Paul G. Schaffner, 85, of Fayette, Ohio, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at his home.
Paul was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Fayette, the son of Earl V. and Helen (Quillet) Schaffner. He married Naomi Clay on March 8, 1946, in Wauseon, Ohio, and she preceded him in death Sept. 19, 1990. He then married Goldie E. (Kirby) Schwartz and she survives.
He was a life-long farmer and was previously employed at the Fulton County Engineers office. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1941, was a member of Wauseon First Baptist Church and Fayette Lions Club. He was an avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving Paul besides his wife, Goldie, of Monclova, Ohio, are three sons, David (and Paula) Schaffner of Fayette, Rollin (and Vicky) Schaffner of Fayette, and Randy (and Karen) Schaffner of Lansing, Mich.; one daughter, Dianne (and Mike) Lumbrezer of Fayette; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ardith Rupp of Archbold, Ohio, and Lynette (and Norm) Hooker of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three step-daughters, Shirley (and Hap) Warner of Toledo, Ohio, Char (and Randy) Samko of Toledo, and Tina (and Dave) Hadley of Monclova; one step-son, Danny (and Vella) Williams of Toledo; nine step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Naomi; two brothers, Arlen and Robert Schaffner; and one grandson in infancy.
Funeral services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the Fayette Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Ron Shipley and Pastor Rex Stump officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Union Cemetery. Visitation is planned from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette.
