Mr. Johnny Monroe Allen, 67, of Old Linwood Road, died Friday, March 29 at his home.

A funeral service was held at 11 am Thursday at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by Preacher Clyde Akers.

Burial was made in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family received friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, NC.

Mr. Allen was born May 18, 1951 in Davidson County to John Madison Allen and Nellie Dryman Allen.

Johnny worked in the restaurant business for many years, beginning with J. B. Tarleton and later, Jimmy’s Barbecue. He owned and operated many restaurants including the Park-In Grill in Denton, the Hardware House in Southmont and finally, S & J Barbecue in Mocksville.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Ann Whitman Allen of the home; his daughter, Summer Canovai (Lance) of Lexington; his brother, Jerry Allen (Joyce) of Lexington; his sisters, Betty Swicegood (Charles) and Shannon James, both of Lexington; and his granddaughter, Bella Canovai.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Cancer Services of Davidson County, 25 W. Sixth Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292.
