DONNA RIGBY CHRISTENSEN STEVENS, 89

Loving wife, devoted mother, sweet grandmother and “Grandma Great”, valued friend and tireless community servant, passed away peacefully at her home on March 27, 2019.

Donna was born August 14, 1929 to Fava Vernal and Vernetta Adalaide (Waldram) Rigby, in Palisades, Idaho, the 6th of 8 children.

She married Wayne W. Christensen on April 18, 1946 in Delta, Utah. They soon moved to Spanish Fork to make their home. After 44 years of marriage, he left her too early in 1990. She married William “Bill” Stevens in 1992. Her sweet companion for 12 wonderful years passed away on April 8, 2004.

Besides helping her husband with the Heating and Air Conditioning business they ran from their house, Donna worked at several businesses in Spanish Fork over the years, her favorites being Roe’s, Al’s and Frank’s Markets She retired from Zion’s Bank in 1991, after 19 years serving as teller and finally as Head Bookkeeper.

Donna had a feisty, can-do and sometimes an over-do attitude, a fierce love for family and friends, and a deep sense of patriotic and civic pride. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was involved in politics, serving many leadership roles with Utah County Republican Women. Donna enjoyed volunteering with the JayCees, Kiwanis Club, and the Spanish Fork Senior Center to name a few. She served as President of the Miss Spanish Fork Pageant for several years and gave her service to many causes over the year; collecting monies for an organ and band uniforms for the high school, serving as PTA president and so much more. She loved making and tying quilts for loved ones, as well as helping with service projects in her community such as the Utah County Senior Services, Spanish Fork Senior Center and other church and civic groups. She has received countless recognition awards for her service, including serving as Grand Marshall for Fiesta Days.

Donna was a self-taught accomplished seamstress, designing and creating original prom dresses and unique wedding dresses for her girls, cheerleading uniforms, complicated costumes for Spanish Fork Children’s Theater, High School and Community Theater, and countless projects for relatives, friends and neighbors.

Donna is survived by her daughters: Julia Ann (Richard) Garcia, Lincoln, California; Kathy Lee (Craig) Hone, Sun City West, Arizona; Sylvia Weidlein, Spanish Fork, Utah and Cheri Lynn (Joe) Tuckett, Orem, Utah. 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; one sister, Glenda (Dave) Johnson, Ivins, Utah and brother Jim (Marlyn) Bunker, Salt lake City, Utah.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, located at Walker Funeral Home, 187 S. Main St., Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may attend a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at the funeral home and again from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Spanish Fork Cemetery.
