Mildred "Louise" Russell passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2019 at Medicalodge in Independence, Kansas. Visitation will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence on Tuesday, March 5th at 10:00AM with the funeral service following at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.

Louise was born June 11, 1929 to Earl and Mildred (Hall) Howard. She was a lifelong resident of Independence. She attended Independence Public Schools graduating from Independence High School in 1947. She attended Bivens Business School. She was an employed by Sinclair Pipeline later known as ARCO for 44 years, retiring as the manager of the right of way department in July of 1990. She married Darrell Russell on February 9, 1957. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading and was a football fan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Joy Williams and Virginia Gillman, and stepson, Jim Russell.

Louise is survived by sisters, Ann Boots of Bowling Green, KY, Dorothy Dunbar, of Wichita, KS, and Helen Mavers of Independence, KS, one step daughter, Nancy Carl of Chanute, KS, five step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been set up in Louise's name to Kindred Hospice for the wonderful care the have shown her. Memorials may be left with Potts Chapel. To leave the family a special message of condolence, please visit www.pottsfuneralhome.com.
