Karen Joe Walker, 56, a lifelong resident of Athens, TN passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

She was born on November 24, 1962.

She was of the Christian faith and attended West End Baptist Church. Karen previously worked for Tax Plus. Karen enjoyed nature and taking long walks in the mountains.

She is preceded in death by her father Fred Key.

Karen leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons Matt Walker and his fiancé Ginger Russell and Jesse Walker and his wife Amanda, her mother Blan Key, four grandchildren Braxton Walker, Londyn Walker, Matti Walker and Marcianna Walker, three sisters Debbie Malone (Darrell), Nancy Holmes (Roy) and Amy Key, nieces and nephews and their spouses Heather Erwin, Ashleigh Maria, Jake Holmes, Julie Haney and Jeremy Brown. She is also survived by numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday evening, April 2, 2019 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home of Athens located at 400 S White Street with the Reverend Jason Kennedy officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time. The interment and committal service will take place on Wednesday morning, April 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Riceville Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
