Mr. Gardner was a member of Dykes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was the Richton Police Department Chief of Police for 10 years and a member of the Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police. He was in the law enforcement field spanning over 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Florence Gardner; brothers, Prentiss Gardner and Allen Gardner.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Gardner of Richton; daughter, Katie Gardner Pittman (Tyler) of Richton; sons, Lee Henry (Shelly) of Richton, Neal Gardner (Ame) of West Blocton, AL and Shane Gardner of West Blocton, AL; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Gandy of Runnelstown; sister-in-law, Mabeline Gardner of Tuscaloosa, GA; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Richton.
