Born Nov. 28, 1936, in Burnham, he was a son of the late Walter T. and Helen M. (Ettinger) Stoner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine L. Stoner, on Sept. 18, 1993.
Charles is survived by: his wife, Sara (Karschner) Stoner, whom he married Aug. 22, 1960; children, Charles L. Stoner Jr., of Lewistown, Brian K. Stoner, of Burnham, James A. Stoner, of Lewistown, and Julie A. Stoner, of Mifflintown; nine grandchildren, Charles L. Stoner III, Scott Stoner, Joseph Berrier, Kimbra Auman, Joshua Stoner, Sheree Stoner, Nicholas Loudenslager, Remi Hook, and Analisia Hook; great-grandchildren, Mason, Hunter, and Elleanna; and siblings, William Stoner and wife, Nancy, of Ferguson Valley, Helen “Sue” McElwain and husband, William, of Granville, and Walter Stoner, of Lewistown.
In his earlier years, Charles was employed as a laborer at Sitkin Smelting and Refining Company in Lewistown.
He loved working and taking care of his family. Charles enjoyed camping, throwing horseshoes and watching football, especially his Redskins and John Wayne movies.
A viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2019, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Charles Eldredge officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
