Floyd Dean Cox, 70, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne.

Floyd was born November 27, 1948 in Ft. Collins, Colorado, a son of the late Lawrence and Freda (Rennecker) Cox.

Floyd served in the United States Army as a Green Beret where he taught paratroopers in Panama during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he attended North Eastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado where he enjoyed bareback and bull riding. It was at college where he met his wife, Jeanne Hockersmith and they married December 16, 1972 in Pine Bluffs. They moved to Wellington where he worked in construction and they later moved back to Pine Bluffs and he worked for Jack Hockersmith. He started his own trucking company and operated the business for nine years and following his wife’s death, he moved to Cheyenne and served as a CDL instructor for SAGE. Floyd enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing, camping and roping with his sons. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeanne Cox on September 9, 1999, and sister, Barbara.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A memory service will be celebrated on Friday, April 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the Historic High School in Pine Bluffs with interment to follow in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery.
