Mabel Letha Jones, 74, of Herrin, Williamson County, Illinois, went to be with her loving husband of 57 years at 12:27 a.m. on Saturday, Nov 19, 2005 at the Herrin Hospital. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was born May 13, 1931 in Marion, Williamson County, Illinois, to Paul and Cecile (Lee) Hester. Mabel was united in marriage with Paul Eugene Jones on Sep 25, 1948, in Piggott, Arkansas. He proceeded her in death on Sep 8, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters and son-in-laws. Paulette and Clarence Johnson of Herrin, Illinois and Sheri and Tom Counce of Carterville, Illinois. Also by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry E and Mary Jones of Herrin, Illinois. Also by 2 granddaughters and their husbands, Tracy and Danny Zoller of Herrin, Illinois, Kelly and Jay Green of Herrin, Illinois. Also two great-grand-children, Andrew and Ethan Paul Zoller of Herrin, Illinois. Also two brothers and sister-in-law, John and Charlotte Hester of Marion, Illinois and Sammy Hester of Energy, Illinois. Also a Sister and Brother-in-law Marie and James Doss of Hurst, Illinois. Also several nieces and nephews and special family and friends, Tommy and Lucy Sprague of Marion, Illinois and Jim and Dorothy Scarlette of Herrin, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Jones, son, Gary G. Jones, great-grand-daughter, Nevaeh Isabella Green, parents, Paul and Cecile (Lee) Hester and Sister Grace Eloise Lentz.
Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov 22, 2005, at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin with Brother Carl "Dink" Phelps and Revs. Jim Jackson and Ray Conley officiating. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, Illinois. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
