Sue was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Percy and Alice (Hartley) Rathbun and graduated from Commerce High School. She devoted her entire life to raising her children and grandchildren. As her grandchildren began arriving Sue became known as “Grammy” to all of us. Grammy loved spending time with her family, especially at Hampton Beach. She was an avid sports fan, who much to the chagrin of her family was fanatical in the love of the New York Yankees. When she wasn’t with her family she liked playing cribbage, bowling and tending to her beloved flowers.
She touched the hearts all that knew her and will be deeply missed by us all, including Sam, the family dog. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses at the UMass Hospice Program, especially to Donna who was there for us and made such a big difference when we needed her most.
The funeral was held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from Callahan and Fay Brothers Funeral Home with a Mass at Our Lady of the Angels Church. Donations may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice Program.
