Nellie Luckenbach (nee Habenicht) died on March 27, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Habenicht; and her husband, Elmer Luckenbach.

She is survived by her four children: Mike Luckenbach, Martha Dahl, Mary Knitt and Margaret Brown; seven grandchildren: Peter, Lisa, Eric, Erin, Ryan, Amy, Michael; and five greatgrandchildren: Lillian, Kaitlin, Kaleb, Kameron, and Evey. Nellie was born and raised in Fredericksburg, Texas. She married her high school sweetheart, Elmer Luckenbach when he was discharged from World War II. They were happily married over 60 years. Nellie was a registered nurse who dedicated her life to caring for the elderly as she and Elmer served in Lutheran Nursing Homes for over 30 years. Nellie was the director of nursing for the Clifton Lutheran Home in Clifton, Texas for over 20 years. She trained and led a nursing department that had consistent outstanding care ratings by the state health care agencies.

When Nellie and Elmer retired, they returned to Fredericksburg and lived on their ranch in Cherry Spring for 20 years, attending Christ Lutheran Church in Cherry Spring. Nellie loved music and was an accomplished pianist in her youth. Nellie loved to dance, was an excellent cook, and loved to garden and be outdoors.

A Memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Cherry Spring on April 24 at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg at 2:30 p.m.
