Raymond Wallace Peters, 88, of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. He was born in Elon, VA on April 12, 1930. He is the son of the late Ralph Echols Peters and Berta May Viar Peters. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Barr Woodward Peters; sister, June Marie Tucker; three brothers, Ralph E. Peters, Jr., Harold G. Peters and Neil H. Peters; his special longtime friend and partner in crime, Ruth Hughes. Ray served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA.

Ray is survived by his children, Anthony “Tony” Barr Peters and wife, Sydnee, Timothy O. Peters and wife, Charlene, Bradford Scott Peters and wife, Donna and Kimberly R. Taylor and husband, Glenn; two grandchildren, Austin Isaac Peters and Samuel Harper Peters; two sisters, Peggy P. Staton and Betty H. McCauley; brother, Leslie Peters; also a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service and celebration of Ray’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lynchburg with Dr. Louis Beckwith Jr. officiating.
