Funeral services for Mr. William Elbert Smotherman, 76, of 3403 E. Main St., who died June 17 at Rutherford Hospital after an extended illness, will be held 4 p.m. June 19, Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Woodrow Medlock will officiate.
His parents were the late Dave Elbert and Perline Belle Woodson Smotherman.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bess Smotherman; a son, Edgar H. Smotherman of Murfreesboro; a step-daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Janes of Detroit, Mic.; three brothers, Ralph, Clifford, both of Lebanon, Elam Underhill Smotherman of Burns; a sister, Mrs. Edward Crowell of Wartrace; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A member of First Methodist Church, he was a livestock dealer and a farmer.
