Edgar Eli Rothrock was the sixth of ten known children of Eli Sanford Rothrock (1849-1926) and Susannah Forney Rothrock (1846-1922), who married 04 Aug 1870 at West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois.

Edgar married Bertha E. Sweitzer (1885-1963) on 14 Feb 1907 at Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Edgar became a Reverend (in the Church of the Brethren?). Edgar and Bertha were the parents of nine known children, namely:

1. Kathryn Bernita Rothrock White (1908-1988)
2. Aileen May Rothrock Brownsberger (1909-1998)
3. Kevin Monroe Rothrock (1910-1970)
4. Ruth Elizabeth Rothrock Ferrell (1912-2002)
5. Samuel Franklin Rothrock (1914-1999)
6. Edgar Spurgeon Rothrock (1918-1979)
7. Betty Beatrice Rothrock Haines (1920-2013)
8. Donald Stanley Rothrock (1929-2000)
9. Wayne Philip Rothrock (1932-1998)
