Sgt. 1st Class Greg L. Sutton, of Spring Lake, North Carolina was raised an Army kid in Fayetteville, wanted to emulate his father by completing a career in the Army. He was doing what he loved, and he planned to retire doing it. He graduated in 1987 from Westover High School where he played football and ran track. He then attended N.C. A&T State University in Greensboro and a community college, but he decided the Army was where he belonged. Greg joined in February 1991 and was stationed in Oklahoma since December 2004. During his time of service he earned several medals, achievements, badges and awards including; the Bronze star, the Purple heart, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (3rd Award), Southwest Service Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge (Posthumous), Expert Weapons Qualifications Badge, Expert Driver and Mechanic Badge (Driver-T). While in the in military, Greg attended Central Texas College and received his associates' degree in Criminal Justice. He married Joane Rullan on September 24, 2003 in Killeen, Texas. He was a Masonic Mason, member of Mistletoe Lodge # 31. He was an avid bowler and was involved in numerous leagues. He was preceded in death by his father,
