Haverhill – Patrick B. McNamara, 52, husband of Dana (Dittman) McNamara, passed away March 10, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Donna E. (Kyle) McNamara of Haverhill and the late Henry E. “Harry” McNamara. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1984. He continued his education at Bates College in Lewiston, ME. Patrick was employed as a Customs Agent for the federal government. He was a longtime member of the Garibaldi Club in Haverhill, cherishing his Sunday football days at the “Baldi”. He was a fan of classic television, especially the westerns like Bonanza and Gunsmoke. An avid sports fan, Patrick enjoyed playing golf, skiing and spending days at the beach. He loved 80’s music and was a good friend to his favorite band “The Stompers”. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife Dana and his mother Donna, he is survived by his daughter Courtney McNamara of SC; stepdaughter Elise Maher; a brother, Dennis McNamara and his wife Amy; and nephew Gavin; aunts Jane G. Kyle of Bradford, Joyce I. Kyle of Bradford, and Meredith J. Germinara, of Haverhill. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, March 14 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. *Patrick was diagnosed with cancer at the age of thirteen. Extensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments put the disease in full remission. The treatments had damaged his internal organs. Patrick was in and out of the hospital during the last five years of his life. The damage to his external organs became so bad that Patrick was going to have to undergo a heart and lung transplant. He died before his name came up on the waiting list to receive a transplant.
on his internal organs gradually got worse. During the last five years of
his life each time Patrick was hospitalized it was harder for him to recover.
His doctors wanted him to have a heart and lung transplant. The damage
to his internal organs was too advanced for that to happen.
