Obituary:
Roger L. Reese (Aug. 3, 1928 - Feb. 3, 2013), age 84, passed Peacefully on February 3, 2013. Born in Orange, New Jersey Roger was a resident of Sacramento for over 53 years. Roger is survived by his loving wife Ava and was a loving father and grandfather to four generations, son Michael Reese and daughter Susanna Ford, grandson Baron Hain and granddaughter Tamara Vigon, son-in-law Jimmy Vigon, great-granddaughters Ashley Glimstad and Maddisen Vigon and a great-great-grandson Justin Cole. In the mid forties Roger joined the Army Air Core and later the U.S. Air Force serving in Africa, the Philippines and the United States. After a career of twenty years Roger retired making Sacramento his and Ava's home. He worked as a civilian employee at McClellan AFB for another twenty years. Roger was an avid baseball fan and the New York Yankees was his all time favorite. His deep love and appreciation for Dixieland Jazz was well know by his family and friends. He aspired to play music, trumpet being the instrument he truly enjoyed. He also had the incredible ability to whistle and was awe-inspiring in his gift. He had a natural ability, a multi- octave range and could improvise over a song with the greatest of ease and confidence. Phrasing, tone, everything. The Sinatra of whistlers. He now whistles for the angels in heaven. A memorial service in his honor was held on Sunday 2/24/13 at his beloved wife's church. There are not enough words to convey our great sense of loss and grief. We are heartbroken. Greatly loved and sadly missed by family and friends.
