She was a graduate of Pape School and the University of Georgia. She was a member of the Junior League, a member of the Colonial Dames and served in various Christian groups. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wesley Espy and Thomas Clilfford Owen (age 83, 8/3/2005). Surviving are her sister, Cornelia Rankin Groves, with whom she was member of the Colonial Dames of Georgia; daughter, Elizabeth Espy Roubos (Ross Roubos) of Jacksonville, FL; and son, Wes Espy of California.
