James Leo Wadsworth, 96 of Peterstown, WV was the son of the late James and Lois Stewart Wadsworth. His great grandparents on each side were pioneer settlers of Utah and Nevada. James married Kathleen Vickers Wadsworth of West Virginia in 1951. They had two children, James Vickers and Felicia Kathleen and four grandchildren. He attended both grade school and high school in Panaca, NV and graduated from Brigham Young University with an A.B. in Political Science, In 1952 he received a Juris Doctor from George Washington University in Washington DC. At the start of his junior year at BYU in September 1942, he volunteered for cadet training in the US Air Force and was called to active duty in December of that year. In March 1943 he was rated a pilot and entered training for overseas duty. He flew 31 night missions in the Mediterranean and Italian theatres. On release from active duty in September 1945, he was assistant operations officer and twin engine test pilot 47thh Bomb Group. In 1948 he was elected to the Nevada State Assembly and served in the 1949 Legislature. C. C. Bastian and he was elected the most effective county contingent for that session. He served as District Attorney for Esmeralda and Lincoln Counties in Nevada, and two terms as President of the North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. While studying law in Washington, he was Administrative Assistant to the Director, Office of Airports, CAA. Among his duties, he was liaison from the CAA to the Office of the Solicitor, Dept of Labor and the US Congress. In 1970 he formed a law office to become chief counsel for all of Howard R. Hughes interests in Nevada. He became Mr. Hughes personal attorney and general manager to the Landmark Hotel and Casino, political officer for the Hughes interest and a general lobbyist to various government offices and legislatures. Among his awards and honors that he received Commodore in the US Yact Club, Admiral in the Texas Navy, Certificate for Civic Advancement by Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Certificate for the Advancement of International Air Travel by the Federal Government of the Republic of Mexico, Who's Who in American Law, in American Politics and in the World.
