Burlington – Johnny Eugene Long, 89, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Alamance County on May 20, 1929 to the late Ernest and Hallie Oakley Long and was the husband of 68 years to the late Betty Staley Long who died in 2017.

Johnny was the owner and operator of JE Long & Sons for many years and was a member of Hopedale Christian Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his sons, Anthony Long and wife, Darlene, Scotty Long and wife, Tammy; daughter, Jeanie L. Neese and husband, Doug; grandchildren, Brandon (Jessica) Long, Nikki Murray, Lauren (Duane) Neese, Travis (Shannon) Long and Ryan (Kourtney) Long; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Billy T. Long and wife, Helen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sisters, Thelma Terrell, Irene Black, Aileen Shepherd, Inez Page and Louise Johnson and a brother, Bud Long.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 11:00am by Rev. Dan Cubino at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
