Jeanette Love Armstrong, age 100 of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on Thursday morning, March 21, 2019, at Hickory Valley Retirement Center where she had enjoyed living for 12 years.

She was born on November 13, 1918, in East Lake, Tennessee, later annexed to Chattanooga, to the late William (Bill) Love and Bertha Walker Love. Jeanette lived in the Chattanooga area except for a few years during the Great Depression when her family lived in Monroe, Louisiana. She loved to talk of Governor Huey “Kingfish” Long and tell that children could go to school because text books were free. She graduated from South Pittsburg High School in South Pittsburg, Tennesse at the age of 16 and was the Valedictorian.

On September 16, 1938, she married James (Jimmy) Martin Armstrong Jr. in Chattanooga. He predeceased her in 1997. Jeanette and Jimmy have four surviving children, Janet Armstrong McPeters, Chattanooga, Judy Armstrong Colvard, Aiken, SC, Jane Armstrong (Bob Jack), Las Vegas, NV and Jay Mark Armstrong, Chattanooga; brother, Bill Love, Chattanooga; and sister-in-law, Virginia Arnold, Chattanooga.

Jeanette was a world class seamstress and spoiled her children and grandchildren with beautiful clothes, formal and wedding dresses, bridesmaid and christening dresses, and loads of creative Halloween costumes. She was a full-time Mom and was active in all of her children's school projects and activities. She was an in-demand chaperone because she was so much fun and had an infectious laugh.

In later years she adored and was adored by ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Jeanette was a world traveler and every day was an adventure. She was always ready to go!! Jeanette and Jimmy owned Armstrong Real Estate Company where she was a top selling licensed real estate agent in 1970. She was also a proud member of the Chattanooga Republican Women's Club and traveled to Washington DC for a presidential inauguration.

Jeanette celebrated her 100th birthday in a big way with family and friends from all over the US.

Thank you to the staff at Hickory Valley Retirement Home for making her final years so enjoyable.

We love you and miss you Mother yet we appreciate all that you were to each one of us.

A Graveside Committal Service will be at 10 AM on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Chaplain Bill Bonds officiating.
