Dennis Jay Benson, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Jackson, passed away peacefully after a six year battle with P.S.P (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) on Friday, March 22, 2019 at the age of 70. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 51 years, two children, three grandchildren, his mother, 2 brothers, as well as nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by three infant sons, Allan, Buffy and Corey; his father, Ellis Benson and brothers, Roger and Charles "Sonny" Benson. He graduated from Parkside High School then served in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge he and Toni resided in Florida until DJ finished college. They returned to Jackson in 1972 and raised their family. DJ was as an officer for the Jackson City Police Dept. He also worked as a brakeman for the Railroad, then retired as a Real Estate Broker. He was a hardworking and loving family man. He liked to bowl and had a passion for Hot Rods. He was a race car fan and enjoyed working on them as much as watching the races. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
